CORN/MAIZE EXCLUSION DIET

 

Foods to avoid ( not a complete list )

Cornflour, cornstarch modified starch

Use any of the other flours which are starchy

   

Cornflakes

All other non-corn cereals

   

Asprin & other coated tablets

 
   

Margarine made with corn oil

Sunflower margarine is a good alternative

   

Corn oil, vegetable oil

Use either pure sunflower or olive oil

   

Custard powder

 
   

Sorbitol, Manitol, Dextrose, Corn syrup,Glucose syrup, Maltodextrin

 
   

Some peanut butter

 
   

Salad dressings

Use apple juice or lemon juice and olive oil.

   

Sausages

Ask your butcher to make you some without corn filler

Your health store has a good Gravy mix without corn

Ice cream

Ice cream contains corn syrup to keep it sweet and soft. Make your own using sugar, honey or brown rice syrup

   

Thickeners

Tip. For thickeners use Arrowroot or potato four and use cold water only- this prevents lumpiness-stir until thickened. Other thickeners include Agar and Kudzu-available from your health store

   

Table salt

Use sea salt instead of table salt as the latter can sometimes contain dextrose to stabilise the iodine content.
