Document Abstract:
The beneficial effects of fish oils and a diet rich in n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) on cardiovascular disease have been known for some time. Siscovitch et al.(1997), for example, showed an inverse relationship between the consumption of fish oils and the incidence of coronary heart disease (CHD). However it has proved difficult to persuade the general population to increase their intake of oily fish in the UK.
